HIGH ARCTIC GULL RESEARCH GROUP
Remote. Inhospitable. Inaccessible. Expensive. There are many challenges to research in the Arctic regions. Within these challenges, we recognize opportunity - to study poorly known species, to learn how they cope with the stresses they encounter at the limits of their range, to better understand one of the most important yet least studied ecosystems on the planet, and the role birds play in it.
Birds are one of the key elements within marine Arctic habitats, and by learning more about how they have evolved to face the challenges of living and breeding in the far north, we can better understand how changes in the environment may affect the ecosystem at large and ultimately make better decisions about how to conserve and protect it.
Our group is flexible and fluid. Our team consists of people from a variety of government, academic, and non-profit institutions united by a shared passion for birds and the Arctic. Here you can learn more about who we are, what we do, where we work, and why we believe this research is important. We hope you enjoy browsing these pages, and we encourage you to get in touch if you want to learn more about our research.
